Three-way race for one Olympic ticket
Tokyo, Japan, June 4, 2016 - The last ticket to Rio from the FIVB Volleyball Men's World Olympic Qualification Tournament in Japan is up for grabs with three teams - Australia, Canada and China - still within reach.
Iran secured their first ever Olympic quota on Saturday, while for Venezuela the match against the Asian team is the last chance to win at least one game at the FIVB Volleyball Men's World Olympic Qualification Tournament in Tokyo. Read more.
Canada vs. China is the first of the two most interesting matches on the last day of the FIVB Volleyball Men's World Olympic Qualification Tournament. Both teams need to win to stay in contention for the last remaining ticket to Rio. However, in the case of China, the victory needs to be claimed in fewer than five sets. In all cases, they will have to wait until Australia's last match to find out who will travel to the Olympics. Read more.
By the beginning of their last match at the FIVB Volleyball Men's World Olympic Qualification Tournament in Tokyo, Australia will already know what exactly they need to achieve against already qualified Poland in order to book a ticket to Rio. However, they should have their minds set on a straight-set win, because that would certainly send them to the Olympics, regardless of any other results. Read more.
The match between France and hosts Japan is the one that should leave everybody with a good taste in their mouth from the FIVB Volleyball Men's World Olympic Qualification Tournament, which will come to an end after these two teams have settled any issues between them. France are the table leaders before the last competition day and would like to finish that way, while the Japanese would like to finish on a high note in front of the home crowd despite failing to qualify for Rio. Read more.
