Volero ZÜRICH star Antonijevic looks ahead after big comeback

Zurich, Switzerland, January 24, 2016. After missing competitive action for 16 months due to injury and a long rehab period, Serbian star player Ana Antonijevic celebrated her comeback with Volero ZÜRICH earlier this week in a home match with France’s RC CANNES which ended in the fifth consecutive straight-sets win for the Swiss team in Pool D of the 2016 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League.
It was a humongous moment for Serbian-born Volleyball star Ana Antonijevic at Saalsporthalle in Zurich last Thursday. Already before the clash between Volero ZÜRICH and RC CANNES, when Antonijevic’s comeback after sixteen months of convalescence to recover from a torn cruciate ligament injury was announced, the 1,720 Swiss spectators in attendance contributed to a breath-taking atmosphere to welcome her back in the business.
This, however, was just the very beginning of a memorable night. Once the gold medallist from the 2011 CEV Volleyball European Championship eventually entered the court to substitute compatriot Bojana Zivkovic in the third set, the Saalsporthalle started to quake. The crowd in the stands as well as Antonijevic’s teammates and even the players from her former club RC CANNES welcomed her back to international Volleyball with an overwhelming standing ovation to contribute to a moment of true sportsmanship.
No wonder, the Serbian star setter needed some time to find the right words to express her feelings after the game: “I’m just speechless. I have been working so hard in the last sixteen months for this moment. I had goose bumps when I saw how many people were delighted for me. The way back after injury was not always easy for me – but it was definitely worth it!”
The Serbian Volleyball star, however, proved herself very self-critic: “I know that I still have a long way to go to get back to the level I displayed before the injury,” and added: “I still have to work hard on my stamina and my power. But I will not give in!”
Volero ZÜRICH coach Avital Selinger, on the other hand, was very grateful for the great work behind the scenes: “We talked to the medicals before this big step. Without their great job over the last sixteen months, Ana’s comeback versus RC CANNES would not have been possible. Now we do not want to overload her. She still needs some time to recover and to find back the rhythm of the game. This was just another important step forward for her. But of course the whole team are happy for Ana.”
For Antonijevic the big comeback against her former club RC CANNES was a big motivation to keep on working: “I played in Cannes for four years. Coach Yan Fang and the club will always have a special place in my heart. To celebrate my comeback against them in the 2016 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League was very special to me – and their congratulations and encouragement after the game mean a lot to me too. Nonetheless, now I want to look forward and give everything for Volero!”
And the 2011 FIVB World Grand Prix bronze medallist has already big plans with the multiple Swiss champs: “My teammates have helped me so much over the last sixteen months and are like a family to me. Now I am just poised to recover and pay it back because I want to go for the crown in the 2016 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League. We have improved a lot as a team over the last months. I know we can make it happen.”

Indonesia en asia nunca ha ganado nada, y ni siquiera le da trabajo a las principales potencias del continente asiatico (en todas sus categorias), debe estar como en decmo lugar despues de Japon, China, Corea, Tailandia incluso Taipei y creo que Kazajistan entre otros equipos, revisando wikipedia me doy cuenta que no participo en los ultimos torneos de adultos, SUB20 y SUB18.

Se sabe que Brasil tiene un universo de jugadoras de primer nivel y para todo técnico de la selección, siempre es un dolor de cabeza poder sacar la lista de deportistas que afrontará una competición. La armadora titular del Mundial del 2010,Fabiola de Souza se encuentra esperando a su primogénito y dará a luz en el mes de mayo, lo cual indica que tendría solo dos meses para poder recuperarse y poder tentar acompañar a su país en la búsqueda del tricampeonato Olímpico.
Ante ello, el técnico de la selección afirmó que no descarta a ninguna jugadora y todas están en condiciones de poder integrar la tan ansiada lista. “Es una jugadora que vale la pena esperar por todo lo que construyó” fueron sus palabras para la armadora. La sana competencia en el país de la samba ha empezado, el 3 de agosto se conocerá la lista de jugadoras que esperan llevar a Brasil a la historia del Voleibol.

Si Fabiola no está totalmente recuperada para agosto Brasil estará en aprietos, hasta ahora no hay otra armadora que pueda suplir a Dany Lins.

Por Fernandinha Ferreira, pero no respondió como se esperaba, además era muy baja y no ayudaba en el bloque.
